FutureB-
The Giants got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dominic Zvada, 136 picks early at the 145th pick. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.
They banked enough surplus on Hill to cover a lot of smaller sins. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
Francis Mauigoa in Round 1, Pick 6 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick37
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
The board had cheaper options than Olaivavega Ioane at pick No. 37, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick106
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
Parker Brailsford at the 106th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
The board fumbled D'Angelo Ponds all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145
Rnd5
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at pick 145 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick172
Rnd5
Evan Stewart
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Evan Stewart. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185
Rnd6
Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid at Round 6, Pick 4 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick187
Rnd6
Sawyer Robertson
They paid sticker price for Sawyer Robertson in the 187th overall pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jyaire Hill
They barely believed it either: Jyaire Hill still on the board at the 196th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
