Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
The Giants bet the future on Ward. The board says B.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Taylen Green in the 193rd pick, a good 75 spots before the room expected him. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They banked enough surplus on Sanders to cover a lot of smaller sins. Cam Ward gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

The Mondon Jr. pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In pick No. 2 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori is a better player than Round 2, Pick 1 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick59 Rnd2 Dylan Fairchild
Nothing to complain about; Dylan Fairchild went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
Taking Tyler Warren in the 66th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick102 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Danny Stutsman in slot 102. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick118 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
A curious use of the 118th overall pick. Wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Smael Mondon Jr. did not.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jake Majors
They robbed the room for Jake Majors here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Winston Jr. at the 134th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick153 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
No edge and no loss on DeMonte Capehart in slot 153; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick193 Rnd6 Taylen Green
Value said wait; Taylen Green in Round 6, Pick 18 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick218 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
They will replay Raheim Sanders at pick No. 218 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick256 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger in the 256th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
