FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Giants to a C+. Nobody else had Roderick Kearney anywhere near pick 195. The Giants did, by 49 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Sellers falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
So much rides on Arvell Reese that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick No. 24 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick34
Rnd2
Christen Miller
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Christen Miller worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick56
Rnd2
Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane in No. 56 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick88
Rnd3
LaNorris Sellers
Circle this one: LaNorris Sellers at pick 88 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick103
Rnd4
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II in the 103rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142
Rnd5
Blake Miller
Blake Miller at the 142nd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick183
Rnd6
Oscar Delp
They went early on Oscar Delp in No. 183, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick191
Rnd6
Patrick Payton
A wild overpay on Patrick Payton in pick No. 191, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195
Rnd6
Roderick Kearney
They talked themselves into Roderick Kearney at slot 195, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
