Beng DRAFTING FOR THEGiants
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Ward, and a B, for the Giants. The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Cam Ward, and the whole operation now runs on his development. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Monangai falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They will need Frazier to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
Steal is underselling it; Luther Burden III at pick 34 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick65
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104
Rnd4
Elijah Arroyo
You do not let a tight end like Elijah Arroyo reach No. 104 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
The board fumbled Jared Wilson all the way to the 134th pick, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick155
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. at the 155th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick221
Rnd7
Miles Frazier
They talked themselves into Miles Frazier at pick No. 221, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
Somehow Kyle Monangai was still sitting there in slot 248, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
