Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Broncos kept it disciplined and banked a B.

Nobody else had Kai Kroeger anywhere near the 228th pick. The Broncos did, by 54 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The Paul Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In slot 20 they get a three-down runner at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Tre Harris
The board had cheaper options than Tre Harris at the 51st pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick85 Rnd3 Deone Walker
A straight-up fair deal on Deone Walker at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Chris Paul Jr.
Circle this one: Chris Paul Jr. at the 122nd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Good price on Jaylen Reed in Round 6, Pick 20, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick197 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at No. 197 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick208 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in pick No. 208 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick228 Rnd7 Kai Kroeger
A real head-scratcher, Kai Kroeger in the 228th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
