Draft Grade — Jets
Overall

FutureB-
The Jets won the night they stopped Brown from sliding. Grade: B-. The board owed the Jets one, and it paid up: Barion Brown, the No. 56 name on the board, sitting there at pick 83 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Milum pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kevin Winston Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an enforcer at safety at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51
Rnd2
Patrick Payton
A tidy little value on Patrick Payton in slot 51, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick57
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in the 57th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83
Rnd3
Barion Brown
Barion Brown at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93
Rnd3
Dasan McCullough
By-the-book stuff, Dasan McCullough at pick 93 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick97
Rnd4
Wyatt Milum
They jumped the gun on Wyatt Milum, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick118
Rnd4
Aireontae Ersery
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 118 with a little surplus value in Aireontae Ersery. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick147
Rnd5
Caden Prieskorn
They paid sticker price for Caden Prieskorn in No. 147, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick179
Rnd6
Will Howard
Will Howard in No. 179 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick212
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
Good price on Fentrell Cypress II in Round 7, Pick 20, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
