Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Browns bled value on every deal, hence the D+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Browns reached some 116 spots for Steven Parker, and value like that does not grow back. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.

They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Schwesinger pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In the 25th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick29 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In slot 29 they get a disruptive interior force, and a steal at that.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick36 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at pick No. 36 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
They read the board right and Xavier Watts was the payoff at No. 58. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick61 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 29, with Tre Harris worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at No. 67 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick70 Rnd3 Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at Round 3, Pick 6 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88 Rnd3 Will Howard
This one needs a full-page explanation: Will Howard in pick 88, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
A want over a need in slot 89: Carson Schwesinger adds a linebacker while cornerback keeps waiting.
Pick94 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
Somehow Kaleb Johnson was still sitting there in pick No. 94, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick103 Rnd4 Omarr Norman-Lott
Circle this one: Omarr Norman-Lott at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick165 Rnd5 Cam Skattebo
Taking Cam Skattebo in the 165th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181 Rnd6 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in the 181st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick216 Rnd6 Steven Parker
They reached a country mile for Steven Parker at the 216th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick217 Rnd6 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the 217th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick257 Rnd7 KJ Jefferson
KJ Jefferson at Round 7, Pick 39 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
