The Eagles cashed the board's mistake on Benefield: B-.

When a board-topper like Ty Benefield slides to pick 121, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not.

They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while cornerback, quarterback and other spots went begging. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Green proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 2 of 6 of the wish list covered.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Cayden Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick48 Rnd2 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. at slot 48 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick84 Rnd3 Greg Johnson
A curious use of the 84th pick. Cornerback, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Greg Johnson did not.
Pick97 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 3, Pick 33 on Nyck Harbor with cornerback, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick119 Rnd4 Samson Okunlola
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Samson Okunlola at offensive lineman with cornerback, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick121 Rnd4 Ty Benefield
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Ty Benefield while clear needs at cornerback, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Pick147 Rnd5 Koi Perich
The board fumbled Koi Perich all the way to No. 147, and they scooped it up. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jayden Jackson
Steal is underselling it; Jayden Jackson at the 153rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick230 Rnd7 Chris Marshall
A premium they did not need to pay, Chris Marshall a notch or two before his time. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick235 Rnd7 Stephiylan Green
Stephiylan Green in pick 235 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick245 Rnd7 Mark Nabou Jr.
They barely believed it either: Mark Nabou Jr. still on the board at the 245th pick. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
