Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Commanders won the night they stopped Allar from sliding. Grade: D+.

The phones were a trap the Commanders kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.

The Allar steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Olumuyiwa Fashanu pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 18 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39 Rnd2 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
They paid sticker price for Quincy Rhodes Jr. in the 39th pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick61 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dillon Thieneman at No. 61. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jonah Coleman
A tidy bit of business in the 65th overall pick, where Jonah Coleman graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington at pick No. 71 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
They barely believed it either: Eli Stowers still on the board at pick No. 91. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146 Rnd5 Zachariah Branch
Steal is underselling it; Zachariah Branch at the 146th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick188 Rnd6 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at pick 188 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick197 Rnd6 Josh Moten
They took Josh Moten at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223 Rnd7 Drayk Bowen
Drayk Bowen in Round 7, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
