FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B+ for the Bengals. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bengals shredded theirs for Jake Briningstool. He came off 45 spots early, and the room will hear about it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
However the rest shakes out, Campbell at that price is a win they earned. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Shavon Revel Jr.
Shavon Revel Jr. at the 30th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick49
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in pick No. 49 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick56
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing T.J. Sanders in slot 56. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118
Rnd4
Ajani Cornelius
Nothing to complain about; Ajani Cornelius went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick154
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bhayshul Tuten. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick179
Rnd6
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt slid further than he should have, and pick 179 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jake Briningstool
Jake Briningstool at Round 6, Pick 17 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
