Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueA- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Commanders left with their quarterback, and a B+ to match.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The Cooper steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels at No. 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 27th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick35 Rnd2 JC Latham
Somehow JC Latham was still sitting there in pick 35, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick36 Rnd2 Dallas Turner
They will replay Dallas Turner at the 36th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry is a better player than Round 2, Pick 8 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67 Rnd3 Taliese Fuaga
They barely believed it either: Taliese Fuaga still on the board at slot 67. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick78 Rnd3 Kris Jenkins
They robbed the room for Kris Jenkins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick100 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard at pick No. 100 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick104 Rnd4 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 104 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick139 Rnd5 Brenden Rice
Steal is underselling it; Brenden Rice at Round 5, Pick 3 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152 Rnd5 Erick All
You do not let a tight end like Erick All reach No. 152 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jaylen Harrell
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylen Harrell at the 222nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
