darcoln DRAFTING FOR THEPackers

Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-. The Packers went off the board in a big way for Davin Vann, 107 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Mondon Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In No. 23 they get an anchor for the defensive front. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Elic Ayomanor
A straight-up fair deal on Elic Ayomanor at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Denzel Burke. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick124
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 124. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick159
Rnd5
Davin Vann
A big swing on Davin Vann at the 159th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick198
Rnd6
Ethan Downs
Ethan Downs in the 198th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick237
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
By-the-book stuff, Isaac TeSlaa at the 237th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick250
Rnd7
John Williams
John Williams at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
