Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesC+ FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Packers: B-.

The J.J. Weaver pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 62 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In pick No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in the 41st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick88 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson at slot 88 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
They paid sticker price for Cole Bishop in No. 103, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick126 Rnd4 Elijah Jones
Nice patience on Elijah Jones, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 26. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick169 Rnd5 Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson in the 169th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick180 Rnd6 Khristian Boyd
Good price on Khristian Boyd in the 180th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
A premium they did not need to pay, Garret Greenfield a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick219 Rnd6 Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson at pick 219 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick245 Rnd7 Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali at No. 245 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
