Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Ja'Had Carter at pick No. 219 regardless, 107 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Moore pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots still on the board. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
A reach on Jonathon Brooks in the 41st overall pick; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick43 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in slot 43 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick73 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen at pick 73 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick82 Rnd3 Rod Moore
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 82nd pick on Rod Moore with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots unsolved.
Pick109 Rnd4 Antwane Wells Jr.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Antwane Wells Jr.. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick135 Rnd4 Fabien Lovett
They reached a country mile for Fabien Lovett at slot 135, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick187 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
They jumped the gun on Curtis Jacobs, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick217 Rnd6 Erick All
Erick All at pick No. 217 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick219 Rnd6 Ja'Had Carter
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ja'Had Carter in the 219th pick, miles early. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick230 Rnd7 Zion Nelson
Zion Nelson in the 230th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
