Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for McClellan: B-.

When a board-topper like Jase McClellan slides to slot 219, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback, wide receiver and other spots went begging. They will need Williams to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick58 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell slid further than he should have, and No. 58 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
No drama and no debate, Javon Bullard went about where he belonged in pick 62. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick89 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at the 89th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick91 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They went early on Zak Zinter in pick No. 91, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick129 Rnd4 Beau Brade
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Beau Brade while clear needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
Pick156 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
Somehow Tykee Smith was still sitting there in slot 166, and they pounced on premier safety value. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick168 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
Circle this one: Justin Eboigbe at Round 5, Pick 32 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick200 Rnd6 Elijah Jones
Nothing to complain about; Elijah Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at pick No. 201 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Taking Jase McClellan in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick255 Rnd7 Miyan Williams
A reach for Miyan Williams in the 255th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
