gmg DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall

FutureB-
The Cardinals kept it disciplined and banked a B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Cardinals did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
However the rest shakes out, Sampson at that price is a win they earned. If Harmon pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In pick No. 16 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
A slide stopped in pick 78, with Dylan Sampson worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick115
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton at the 115th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at No. 152 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick225
Rnd7
Karene Reid
Karene Reid is a better player than the 225th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
