Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a C+.

Nobody else had Frank Crum anywhere near Round 6, Pick 12. The Bears did, by 107 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

If Marvin Harrison Jr. and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 7 they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Bo Nix
A quiet steal in pick 38: Bo Nix for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
They took Michael Hall Jr. at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick111 Rnd4 Tanor Bortolini
They talked themselves into Tanor Bortolini at slot 111, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
They left a pile of value on the table to take Drake Nugent this early at the 122nd overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick185 Rnd6 Myles Cole
A reach for Myles Cole in pick No. 185; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187 Rnd6 Frank Crum
Value said wait; Frank Crum in Round 6, Pick 12 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
