Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots won the night they stopped Monheim from sliding. Grade: B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jonah Monheim got past him. The Patriots do not have to explain a thing at the 220th overall pick.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
They did well to land Travis Hunter in pick No. 4, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in pick 38. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick69 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
They paid sticker price for Tate Ratledge in slot 69, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick77 Rnd3 Jared Ivey
No edge and no loss on Jared Ivey in Round 3, Pick 13; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick106 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Value with a capital V on Kevin Winston Jr. in the 106th pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick144 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
Circle this one: Emery Jones Jr. at No. 144 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick217 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II at the 217th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick238 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on CJ Dippre. A need, and now a little less of one.
