Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Packers this weekend: B.

The Packers did not so much draft Jase McClellan as overpay for him, 56 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. However the rest shakes out, Haynes at that price is a win they earned.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 JC Latham
JC Latham at pick 16 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick39 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu in Round 2, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick43 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick48 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Brian Thomas Jr. at the 48th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
They took Kamren Kinchens at par in slot 75, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at the 82nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Christian Haynes
You do not let an offensive lineman like Christian Haynes reach pick No. 111 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick135 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Good price on Khyree Jackson in slot 135, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick189 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
They went early on Curtis Jacobs in the 189th pick, and the value did not follow. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at No. 194 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick217 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at Round 6, Pick 42 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219 Rnd6 Steve Linton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Steve Linton in the Round 6 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick232 Rnd7 Julian Pearl
They paid a round early for Julian Pearl in pick 232, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
