Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Jeremy Moussa a full 173 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots still on the board. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kamari Lassiter
In pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at slot 41 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 57, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A surprising call. With edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots still to address, they spent the 88th overall pick on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick92 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
By-the-book stuff, Bucky Irving at No. 92 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick125 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They took Javon Foster at par in the 125th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick135 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
No edge and no loss on Beaux Limmer in the 135th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick203 Rnd6 Matthew Jones
A big swing on Matthew Jones at pick No. 203, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick217 Rnd6 Jeremy Moussa
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jeremy Moussa this early at slot 217. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
A tidy bit of business in No. 219, where Jase McClellan graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick246 Rnd7 Tatum Bethune
Tatum Bethune at pick 246 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
