Draft Grade — Packers

FutureB
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Matthew Jones at pick No. 219 is 52 spots clear of where he belonged.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hampton. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kiran Amegadjie at No. 76 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88
Rnd3
Max Melton
A quiet steal in the 88th pick: Max Melton for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91
Rnd3
Blake Corum
They did well to land Blake Corum in pick No. 91, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
A premium they did not need to pay, Ty'Ron Hopper a notch or two before his time. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick202
Rnd6
Caedan Wallace
They paid a round early for Caedan Wallace in pick No. 202, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick219
Rnd6
Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones at Round 6, Pick 44 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick245
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
The board had cheaper options than Sam Hartman at No. 245, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Dominique Hampton
Dominique Hampton in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
