Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The Packers put a flag in the ground for Tanner Mordecai, 59 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Rosengarten at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In slot 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
A clean, defensible pick in pick 41 with a little surplus value in Troy Fautanu. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick57 Rnd2 Byron Murphy II
They paid a round early for Byron Murphy II in the 57th pick, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88 Rnd3 Audric Estime
Audric Estime in No. 88 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at the 92nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick125 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at pick No. 135 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick203 Rnd6 Stefon Thompson
Stefon Thompson at the 203rd overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Pick217 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten is a better player than pick 217 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick219 Rnd6 Isaiah Davis
Nothing to complain about; Isaiah Davis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick246 Rnd7 Tanner Mordecai
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tanner Mordecai. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
