LeapinLambeaus DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers. The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 91st pick on Will Shipley a full 42 spots early. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Green. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tyler Nubin
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Nubin. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick41
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They reached into another round for T'Vondre Sweat, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick57
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
A quiet steal in slot 57: Tyler Guyton for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick88
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A slide stopped in the 88th pick, with Cooper Beebe worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick91
Rnd3
Will Shipley
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Will Shipley well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick125
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
A tidy little value on Kris Abrams-Draine in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick135
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at the 135th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick203
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
The board had JD Bertrand higher than Round 6, Pick 28, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick217
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
Good price on Sam Hartman in pick 217, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219
Rnd6
Maurice Smith
This one needs a full-page explanation: Maurice Smith in the 219th overall pick, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jalen Green
You do not let a safety like Jalen Green reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
