Draft Grade — Lions
Overall
C+
ValueF
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The jury is out on the Lions. For now, C+. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Lions reached some 111 spots for Jordan Hancock, and value like that does not grow back.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 3 of 9, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
If Bradyn Swinson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Bradyn Swinson
Bradyn Swinson in the Round 2 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick60
Rnd2
Dylan Fairchild
They reached a country mile for Dylan Fairchild at Round 2, Pick 28, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick77
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at No. 77 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102
Rnd3
Jordan Hancock
Value said wait; Jordan Hancock in slot 102 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick130
Rnd4
JJ Pegues
They left a pile of value on the table to take JJ Pegues this early at the 130th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
