Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureA+
The Commanders aced the weekend. Grade: A-.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Princewill Umanmielen; the Commanders did not wait, grabbing him 49 spots ahead at slot 220. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

However the rest shakes out, Davis at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Tuli Tuipulotu gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 25th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
Pick59 Rnd2 Connor Lew
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to pick 59, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick68 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields in pick No. 68 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Tacario Davis
You do not let a cornerback like Tacario Davis reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick186 Rnd6 Oscar Delp
No drama and no debate, Oscar Delp went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 6. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick191 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels slid further than he should have, and the 191st pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick220 Rnd7 Princewill Umanmielen
This one needs a full-page explanation: Princewill Umanmielen in Round 7, Pick 5, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
