Larceny in slot 175 lands the Seahawks a D-, Neal and all. You build a draft on nights like this. Devin Neal had no business being available in the 175th pick, and the Seahawks did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They are betting Howard proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 30th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick56
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
They barely believed it either: Tyler Booker still on the board at No. 56. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
Circle this one: Xavier Watts at slot 82 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick86
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in the 86th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91
Rnd3
Will Howard
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Will Howard well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Vernon Broughton
They talked themselves into Vernon Broughton at pick 131, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137
Rnd4
Chase Lundt
They reached into another round for Chase Lundt, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at Round 5, Pick 34 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175
Rnd5
Devin Neal
They robbed the room for Devin Neal here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
