Draft Grade — Giants

FutureA+
The Giants stacked value on need and came away with a A-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Giants took Garrett Dellinger a full 52 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
However the rest shakes out, Emmanwori at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The DJ Turner II pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Will Johnson
No drama and no debate, Will Johnson went about where he belonged in No. 17. The roster fit checks out.
Pick49
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in slot 49 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick65
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
No edge and no loss on Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 1; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick81
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ozzy Trapilo. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at the 99th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick111
Rnd4
Quinn Ewers
The board fumbled Quinn Ewers all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the 117th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick154
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick163
Rnd5
Damien Martinez
Fair-plus on Damien Martinez, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in No. 219 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick232
Rnd7
Davin Vann
They talked themselves into Davin Vann at pick 232, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garrett Dellinger well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
