Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Sainristil: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Mike Sainristil had no business being available in pick 124, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Orhorhoro proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Ruke Orhorhoro
In No. 31 they get an anchor for the defensive front, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at pick No. 63 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94
Rnd3
Blake Fisher
They reached into another round for Blake Fisher, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick124
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at Round 4, Pick 24 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick131
Rnd4
Javon Foster
They let Javon Foster come to them and pounced at pick 131. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick133
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
A premium they did not need to pay, Luke McCaffrey a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick211
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
The board had cheaper options than Gabe Hall at slot 211, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick215
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs slid further than he should have, and the 215th overall pick is lovely value for the linebacker. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick251
Rnd7
Joshua Cephus
They went early on Joshua Cephus in pick 251, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
