Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Seahawks to a B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Brady Cook at Round 7, Pick 28. The Seahawks jumped the board by 39 and dared it to prove them wrong.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. However the rest shakes out, Bryant at that price is a win they earned.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick50 Rnd2 T.J. Sanders
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing T.J. Sanders in No. 50. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick52 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Fair-plus on Aireontae Ersery, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick57 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick82 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Somehow Donovan Jackson was still sitting there in slot 82, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick137 Rnd4 Terrance Ferguson
The board fumbled Terrance Ferguson all the way to the 137th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick172 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant in pick 172 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick223 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Taking Luke Lachey in pick 223 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick228 Rnd7 Shemar James
They paid up for Shemar James at pick No. 228 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick234 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Conner in the 234th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick244 Rnd7 Brady Cook
Brady Cook at No. 244 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
