Andras DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Seahawks and Alexander: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Seahawks watched Zy Alexander slide 151 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Membou lower, and that gap is the story.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Armand Membou
Armand Membou at pick 50 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82
Rnd3
Ashton Jeanty
Circle this one: Ashton Jeanty at the 82nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136
Rnd4
Jahdae Barron
They barely believed it either: Jahdae Barron still on the board at slot 136. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick171
Rnd5
Darius Alexander
Somehow Darius Alexander was still sitting there in No. 171, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jack Bech
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick210
Rnd6
Zy Alexander
The board fumbled Zy Alexander all the way to pick No. 210, and they scooped it up. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick234
Rnd7
Dylan Fairchild
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Fairchild at the 234th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
