Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cardinals a B-.

Hard to follow the map here. The Cardinals bypassed quarterback and tight end to take Maason Smith at pick No. 105, a spot they had covered. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In slot 27 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in pick No. 35. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
They took Devontez Walker at par in the 66th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick71 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Lynn Polk at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They paid sticker price for Trey Benson in No. 90, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick105 Rnd4 Maason Smith
A surprising call. With quarterback and tight end still to address, they spent Round 4, Pick 5 on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jaylin Simpson
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Simpson at the 137th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
The board had Jarrian Jones higher than pick 161, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick188 Rnd6 Delmar Glaze
They did well to land Delmar Glaze in pick 188, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick222 Rnd7 Myles Murphy
Myles Murphy at pick No. 222 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick224 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at No. 224 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick241 Rnd7 KT Leveston
Nothing to complain about; KT Leveston went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
