Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Panthers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.

Every board in the league had Barber lower, and that gap is the story. Landing Neal that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
