frog DRAFTING FOR THEVikings

Draft Grade — Vikings

FutureB-
The Vikings checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Vikings walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Reese pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Every board in the league had Singleton lower, and that gap is the story.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In slot 18 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
They took D'Angelo Ponds at par in Round 2, Pick 17, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
They paid a round early for Nicholas Singleton in No. 82, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97
Rnd3
Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht at the 97th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst slid further than he should have, and pick No. 161 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Miles Kitselman
Miles Kitselman at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Dominic Zvada
A market-rate specialist, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominic Zvada. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick240
Rnd7
PJ Williams
No edge and no loss on PJ Williams in pick 240; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
