The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Jake Slaughter, the No. 43 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 21 like a gift left on the doorstep.

The Chambliss reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while interior defensive lineman and linebacker went begging.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
