Draft Grade — Rams
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Rams checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Rams did exactly that with Caleb Tiernan in the 29th overall pick.
Bernard falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick29
Rnd1
Caleb Tiernan
In the 29th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick61
Rnd2
A.J. Haulcy
They read the board right and A.J. Haulcy was the payoff at the 61st pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick93
Rnd3
Germie Bernard
Circle this one: Germie Bernard at pick No. 93 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167
Rnd5
Sawyer Robertson
A reach on Sawyer Robertson in slot 167; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick208
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Foster at pick No. 208, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick232
Rnd7
Kevin Jennings
Steal is underselling it; Kevin Jennings at No. 232 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick250
Rnd7
Jacobe Johnson
Jacobe Johnson at the 250th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick256
Rnd7
Micah Morris
They took Micah Morris at par in Round 7, Pick 40, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
