Draft Grade — Chiefs

Klare should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a B-. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chiefs left wide receiver untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Klare pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Every board in the league had Regis lower, and that gap is the story.
Job largely done: tight end settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In slot 9 they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him.
Pick40
Rnd2
Zion Young
They paid sticker price for Zion Young in the 40th overall pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick74
Rnd3
Max Klare
They barely believed it either: Max Klare still on the board at pick No. 74. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Emmett Johnson
A tidy bit of business in No. 109, where Emmett Johnson graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146
Rnd5
Albert Regis
They jumped the gun on Albert Regis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick176
Rnd5
Kobe Baynes
Kobe Baynes at Round 5, Pick 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
