Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueC NeedB- TradesA- FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Packers a B.

The Packers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Sam Hartman at Round 6, Pick 13 regardless, 70 picks early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Getting Davis where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will answer for taking linebacker early while wide receiver and interior defensive lineman went begging.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick41 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Fair-plus on Jordan Morgan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick42 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 42 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the 58th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick88 Rnd3 Cedric Gray
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cedric Gray at linebacker with wide receiver and interior defensive lineman open.
Pick90 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 90th pick on Cole Bishop with wide receiver and interior defensive lineman unsolved.
Pick91 Rnd3 Elijah Jones
A real head-scratcher, Elijah Jones in No. 91 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126 Rnd4 Tip Reiman
Tip Reiman at pick No. 126 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick127 Rnd4 Ray Davis
You do not let a running back like Ray Davis reach the 127th pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tanor Bortolini in pick 138, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169 Rnd5 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at slot 169 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick188 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick202 Rnd6 Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Javontae Jean-Baptiste in the 202nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd6 Marcellas Dial
Value said wait; Marcellas Dial in Round 6, Pick 44 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jalen Sundell
Jalen Sundell at No. 245 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick255 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kimani Vidal. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
