Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

A respectable, level-headed haul for the 49ers: B. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named running back, a need the 49ers walked right past. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Paul. On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 31 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul at the 63rd overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick98
Rnd3
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at slot 98 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
