Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Bears, and a C+ to match.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bears would have aced it. Phillip Webb at the 149th overall pick is 174 spots clear of where he belonged. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wease Jr.. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Hit on Wyatt Milum and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
They reached into another round for Wyatt Milum, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
No edge and no loss on Tyler Booker in pick No. 39; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in the 41st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick72 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149 Rnd5 Phillip Webb
Phillip Webb at Round 5, Pick 10 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick197 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
A reach for Carson Vinson in pick 197; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick235 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick242 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
Somehow Theo Wease Jr. was still sitting there in the 242nd pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
