Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-

The Bears kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Nobody else had Phillip Webb anywhere near pick No. 146. The Bears did, by 153 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

However the rest shakes out, Wilson at that price is a win they earned. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In slot 9 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at Round 2, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick40 Rnd2 Dylan Fairchild
A premium they did not need to pay, Dylan Fairchild a notch or two before his time. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73 Rnd3 Logan Brown
Logan Brown in the 73rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick146 Rnd5 Phillip Webb
They talked themselves into Phillip Webb at the 146th pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jamaree Caldwell
They reached into another round for Jamaree Caldwell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick228 Rnd7 Elijhah Badger
Elijhah Badger in No. 228 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
They barely believed it either: Jared Wilson still on the board at the 244th pick. The roster fit checks out.
