Cloud9blazers DRAFTING FOR THEEagles

Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall

FutureB-
The Eagles got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. The Eagles bet big and early on Malachi Lawrence, 48 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Thieneman.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In the 23rd pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Steal is underselling it; Dillon Thieneman at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick54
Rnd2
Dani Dennis-Sutton
Dani Dennis-Sutton at Round 2, Pick 22 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson is a better player than pick 68 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick98
Rnd3
Malachi Lawrence
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malachi Lawrence well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jack Endries
The board had Jack Endries higher than slot 121, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
Logan Jones
Logan Jones in pick 122 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick137
Rnd4
Isaiah World
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah World at No. 137 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick151
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the 151st overall pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick179
Rnd5
Sam Roush
Nice patience on Sam Roush, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 41. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick201
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
