No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs.

The needs board said one thing and the Chiefs did another, using pick No. 92 on Maason Smith while tight end, quarterback and other spots waited. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Hopper falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Reaching for Proctor left real value on the table behind him.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
