Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB
A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a B, for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals spent the pick that matters most on Fernando Mendoza, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Benny. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Lance has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick No. 10 they get a long-term answer under center. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
They liked Olaivavega Ioane enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in Round 3, Pick 10 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick110 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
They jumped the gun on Bryce Lance, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
The board had cheaper options than Jacob Rodriguez at No. 149, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Monroe Mills
Monroe Mills at the 186th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick224 Rnd7 Rayshaun Benny
Rayshaun Benny at pick 224 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
