Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
Mendoza is the Jets' new face under center. Grade: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Jets committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Zuhn III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Daniels pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
Fernando Mendoza at No. 7 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick18
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In slot 18 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Quincy Rhodes Jr.
They took Quincy Rhodes Jr. at par in Round 2, Pick 6, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick47
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in the 47th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick104
Rnd4
Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
Nothing to complain about; Davison Igbinosun went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at pick 194 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick203
Rnd6
CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at the 203rd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick212
Rnd6
Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak at the 212th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick218
Rnd7
Barion Brown
Value said wait; Barion Brown in the 218th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick239
Rnd7
De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling in slot 239 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick254
Rnd7
Pat Coogan
By-the-book stuff, Pat Coogan at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick256
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brett Norfleet. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
