Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Chargers spent No. 186 on Stefon Thompson, a name most had 99 spots down the list. A F, plain and simple.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.

They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with wide receiver still staring back at them.
