Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Giants: B.

There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Giants never got to the one that mattered most. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Every board in the league had Cuevas lower, and that gap is the story. The trade work was a quiet net positive. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 9th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. More want than need.
Pick37 Rnd2 Dontay Corleone
A clean, defensible pick in No. 37 with a little surplus value in Dontay Corleone. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick40 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
A reasonable price with a little left over, Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 8. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zachariah Branch. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman at pick No. 143 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick146 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
They paid sticker price for Davison Igbinosun in pick 146, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick184 Rnd6 Josh Cuevas
A reach for Josh Cuevas in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick190 Rnd6 Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner at the 190th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick226 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
Ethan O'Connor in the 226th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
