FOXY KNOXY DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks let Berger fall and pounced. Final grade: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Seahawks were there to profit. Jalen Berger, the No. 199 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 236th overall pick.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Eguakun to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick78
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
By-the-book stuff, Christian Haynes at the 78th pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Junior Colson
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 17 with a little surplus value in Junior Colson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Robinson at slot 118, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick154
Rnd5
McCallan Castles
A tidy little value on McCallan Castles in pick No. 154, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick194
Rnd6
Kingsley Eguakun
A big swing on Kingsley Eguakun at pick 194, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jalen Berger
Somehow Jalen Berger was still sitting there in No. 236, and they pounced on premier running back value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
