TupeloDylan DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs

Draft Grade — Chiefs

More right than wrong for the Chiefs, and a B- to prove it. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Leonard Taylor III a full 34 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Ladd McConkey
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64
Rnd2
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at the 64th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving at pick 95 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick133
Rnd4
Brennan Jackson
Brennan Jackson in pick No. 133 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick158
Rnd5
Steele Chambers
This one needs a full-page explanation: Steele Chambers in the 158th overall pick, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick172
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
A clean, defensible pick in slot 172 with a little surplus value in Kamal Hadden. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
