Azlan DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Seahawks torched the value chart for Jared Wilson, taking him 49 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Horton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the 18th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick50
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
They paid up for Donovan Jackson at pick 50 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at No. 52 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Deone Walker at slot 82 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
They took Kevin Winston Jr. at par in pick No. 92, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick137
Rnd4
Tory Horton
Somehow Tory Horton was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 35, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
They paid sticker price for Quincy Riley in pick 172, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick175
Rnd5
CJ West
They went early on CJ West in Round 5, Pick 37, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick223
Rnd7
Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick234
Rnd7
Phil Mafah
Phil Mafah in the 234th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
