Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: B-.

The search is over. The Raiders handed the keys to Fernando Mendoza, and the whole operation now runs on his development. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Rivers steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They are betting Mendoza proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 6 they get their quarterback of the future, though they paid up to get him. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 KC Concepcion
No drama and no debate, KC Concepcion went about where he belonged in the 38th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick70 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick106 Rnd4 Chandler Rivers
Value with a capital V on Chandler Rivers in the 106th overall pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick135 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
They did well to land Parker Brailsford in pick No. 135, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick173 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
They took Aaron Anderson at par in pick 173, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick181 Rnd6 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at Round 6, Pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick184 Rnd6 Zane Durant
By-the-book stuff, Zane Durant at Round 6, Pick 6 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick220 Rnd7 DJ Harvey
DJ Harvey in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
